Try the Wheel is our beginner-friendly pottery class in Melbourne designed for anyone wanting to have a go at wheel throwing in a relaxed, supportive studio environment.
Perfect for kids, adults, or a parent and child creative bonding session.
No experience needed. Just jump on a wheel and we’ll get you spinning.
Hosted at our Abbotsford studio, this small-group ceramics workshop gives you hands-on guidance while still allowing space to explore and play with clay.
What You’ll Learn
Guided by our experienced ceramic artists, you’ll learn:
• How to centre clay on the pottery wheel
• The foundations of wheel throwing
• How to shape a simple cup, bowl or small vessel
You’ll create pottery pieces during the session, and we’ll professionally glaze and kiln-fire your selected piece.

• 1.5 hour beginner pottery wheel class
• All clay, tools and materials
• 1 glazed and fired finished piece
• Professional glazing and kiln firing
• Collection from our Melbourne studio
Price: $85 per person
Additional pieces can be glazed and fired for $20 per piece.
Maximum 2 participants per session for personalised guidance.
Who It’s For
Ages 5+ welcome.
Children under 16 must attend with a participating adult. This is not a drop-off class. We encourage parents or carers to join in and share the wheel as a creative bonding experience.

After the Class
Your finished ceramic piece will be ready for collection from our Abbotsford studio in approximately 4–6 weeks.
Postage can be arranged at an additional cost during your class.
Due to limited storage space, work must be collected within 2 weeks of notification.
Important Information
• Non-refundable. One reschedule may be possible at our discretion.
• Please arrive 10 minutes early.
• Clay is a natural material and occasional firing faults can occur. If your piece is damaged during firing, we’ll gift you a replacement from the studio collection.
